On your mark...get set...crawl!

While New York's most athletic are prepping for the 2XU New York City Triathlon on July 1, the city's youngest are embarking on a race of their own that tests speed, agility and determination...they just might not necessarily be aware that they're signed up.

To kick off a weekend of sports-related adventures, the New York Hilton Midtown (1335 Ave of the Americas) will host the NYC Tri Diaper Derby at 1pm on June 29. Little runners (well, technically little crawlers) will make their way across the 12-foot long mat for a chance at the top spot, but in the event their is a mishap half-way through—an itchy diaper, an overdue nap time—parents will be eagerly waiting on the sidelines. Even better? The Party Pooper award will be given to the child with the most meltdowns, so there is success to be had in all aspects of this race.

Thirty tots will get in on the action this year, and we can assure that it's the cutest sports happening to hit New York. These kiddos have spent weeks at their local play space and chowing down on the most organic of veggies to prepare for such an intense event. Folks, this is no joke.

The Diaper Derby puts the youngsters one crawl closer to the main event: the 2XU New York City Triathlon. Babies' adult counterparts are expected to jump in for a 1,500-meter swim in the Hudson River, bike 40-kilometers along the Henry Hudson Parkway and participate in 10-kilometer run in Central Park—an easy feat for those who have been put through extensive training in their early days.

Though registration has ended for the athletes, spectators interested in attending are welcome for free.

We'll be rooting for you little guys!
