Everyone's favorite train is on the move.
Just in time for summer, Thomas the Tank Engine will arrive at the Delaware River Railroad Excursions in Phillipsburg, New Jersey for Day Out with Thomas: Big Adventures Tour 2018. Trust us, you're going to want a ticket.
The fun gets underway June 29–30, July 1 and July 6-8, and your mini engineers aren't going to be able to resist the locomotive adventures. Not only will there be crafts, activities at the Imagination Station, music and story times, but there is a chance to get up-close and personal with the train of the hour. There will be an option to hop aboard a 25-minute ride with a talking Thomas the Tank Engine (which surely puts the MTA to shame). Don't forget to wave hello to Sir Topham Hatt, controller of the railway.
Like any good locomotive, Thomas can't sit in one place for too long. If you by chance are out of town when he pulls into Jersey, fear not—he's making plenty of pitstops. This summer, Kennywood Park in Pennsylvania will introduce the country to its second permanent Thomas attraction, which will be based on the beloved Thomas & Friends TV show, so the Island of Sodor won't seem so far away after all.
Thomas' TV appearances are also in for a track change this year. Thomas & Friends will leaves its long-standing home on PBS and head to Nick Jr.—but not without a few modifications.
“The brand is undergoing a huge evolution to ensure that it remains relevant and competitive for today’s audiences,” Kate Schlomann, vice president and global brand general manager of Thomas & Friends, said according to Variety. “We are taking Thomas off Sodor for the first time in our episodic series, evolving our storytelling to be more inclusive, meaningful and entertaining.”
Wherever Thomas journeys next, we'll be there!
