Thomas the Tank Engine's Big Adventures Tour is pulling into the station

Thomas the Tank Engine is one busy locomotive.

Not only is our favorite train making his way to Kennywood Park this summer, but he will be making a pit stop in Connecticut along the way for Day Out with Thomas: Big Adventures Tour. On April 21, 28–29 and May 5–6, families can head to The Essex Steam Train & Riverboat for a taste of the Island of Sodor.

Thomas isn't pulling into the station alone—Percy, Sir Topham Hatt, Caboose the Clown and Sunny Train will be tagging along for some family fun. When purchasing a ticket, visitors will be able to choose departure times for the tour, which will begin every 45 minutes from 9am–5:15pm.

Though the ride itself lasts 25 minutes, the activities continue throughout the day. Children will be able to enjoy carnival rides, face painting, a magic show, play areas, storytelling, Sunny Train's music show and even a special Thomas the Tank Engine video theater.

It's definitely safe to say that Thomas is having a pretty big year. Not only is he making an appearance at various attractions, but Thomas & Friends will be making a track change from its long-standing home on PBS and head to Nick Jr.—and not without a few modifications.

“The brand is undergoing a huge evolution to ensure that it remains relevant and competitive for today’s audiences,” Kate Schlomann, vice president and global brand general manager of Thomas & Friends, said according to Variety. “We are taking Thomas off Sodor for the first time in our episodic series, evolving our storytelling to be more inclusive, meaningful and entertaining.”

You're certainly not going to want to miss the train (regardless of where it's headed). To get tickets to Day Out With Thomas: Big Adventures Tour, click here. Don't forget to check out Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails at the Liberty Science Center before its May departure.
