The results are in: Odette claims the fifth spot on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, joining six other local restaurants to represent the city on the prestigious list. Odette is the only restaurant in Singapore to rise in the ranks – it was ninth last year – with Burnt Ends (12), Waku Ghin (23), Les Amis (29), Corner House (36) and Jaan (44) dropping a couple of spots in 2018. Modern-Australian restaurant, Whitegrass is Singapore's only new addition, taking the 50th spot.
Odette is now Singapore's best restaurant, following the closure of Restaurant André – which held the number two spot on the 2017 list – earlier this year. Taiwanese chef André Chiang takes home The Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award 2018. During his speech, he thanked his three mentors: "Taiwan taught me to be humble," Chiang said, "France sharpened my creativity, palate and senses. Singapore taught me to be different and unique."
Zaiyu Hasegawa's Den in Tokyo is the new number two while Gaggan Anand's Gaggan in Bangkok tops the list for the fourth year running. Here's the full list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants:
