If there's one thing that Singaporeans are unabashedly proud of, it's definitely Singapore Changi Airport. And we're glad to say that the airport is back in the game, clinching the top spot in Skytrax's World Airport Awards 2023 after losing out on the title in 2021 and 2022.
Skytrax's annual list is based on global surveys evaluating traveller experiences across 550 airports, taking into account factors like check-in, arrivals, transfers, dining and retail options, security and immigration, as well as the departure experience.
These are all things that Singapore Changi Airport excels at, with its efficient arrival and departure journeys and unique offerings like a rooftop pool, a butterfly garden, the tallest indoor waterfall, and most recently, a rock climbing wall in Terminal 3. Endless dining and shopping options also snagged Changi Airport the World's Best Airport Dining and World's Best Airport Leisure Amenities awards.
Coming up next on the list is Qatar's Hamad International Airport, which had taken the number one spot in both 2021 and 2022. The airport was also recognised for having the best airport shopping, being the best airport in the Middle East, and being the cleanest airport in the Middle East. Those who frequently layover at the airport on the way to Europe will know it for its futuristic design, the indoor tropical garden, a nifty indoor tram, and its comfortable lounges.
For those heading to Japan to check out the cherry blossoms, you'll be glad to know that it ranked third in this year's awards. Look forward to simple and efficient immigration, high standards of cleanliness – it is also 2023's World's Cleanest Airport – and a speedy half-hour journey to Tokyo city centre.
