A fancy French rotisserie is opening in South Sydney

2017 has been the year Sydney's suburbs got their groove back. We got boss burgers in Penrith, Lane Cove is getting a small bar, and now Sydney's southern suburbs are about to get an injection of European convenience in the form of a fancy rotisserie called Little Bonny's in Menai.

Yes, it is a take on the classic Aussie chicken shop, but with a high class French sensibility, which means that the two brass rotisseries imported from France will be threaded with free-range chickens, a whole fish and a rotating special that could be anything from turkey, to lamb, suckling pig and seafood. They're stuffing their chooks with stuffed with marjoram, roasted onion and garlic, and glazing others in chimichurri, or chilli and garlic.

What is a chook shop dinner without potato bake? Here they will be serving a potato and pecorino gratin, plus turmeric-roasted cauliflower with radicchio, avocado, pumpkin seeds and pomegranate. And for that extra zeitgeisty hook, dessert will be soft serve or milkshakes.

If you can't be bothered cooking and you hate cleaning you're in luck because they let you eat-in. They've gone to a lot of effort with the modern, industrial design (no cartoon chickens here) and there are 50 seats if you want an easy dinner out.

Little Bonny's launches on Thu 21 Dec, F1.03 5-21 Carter Road, Menai 2234. Daily 10.30am-9pm.
