Venues and attractions that have reopened in Tokyo

Museums, art galleries and other tourist attractions in Tokyo are opening again – now with added safety measures

This page will be updated regularly. We're working hard to be accurate. But these are unusual times, so please check that venues remain open before heading out.

While Japan was under a nationwide state of emergency due to the Covid-19 coronavirus, most tourist attractions and public facilities including museums, galleries and theme parks across Japan closed their doors temporarily. Since the state of emergency was lifted on May 25, businesses in Tokyo have started opening up again.

A host of venues have reopened as early as June 1, but they will be operating on shorter hours and have introduced new safety measures to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.
