In the matter of a few short years, Hong Kong's drinking culture has undergone a serious transformation. From our city's first craft cocktails not even a decade ago to riding the whiskey wave of the past couple of years, Hong Kong's bars are now among the best in the world. The city's palate is still developing, too, and there's a brand new bar in town that's set to shake up how we drink.
New to Central's On Lan Street, Mezcalito, as the name suggests, is a shrine to all things mezcal. The first of its kind in Hong Kong, the sleek high-rise bar showcases the other Mexican spirit, with a focus on premium bottles from south of the border. The smokey, agave-based tipple is served straight and in a range of excellently crafted cocktails, allowing novices and seasoned mezcal drinkers alike a chance to explore the depth of this centuries-old spirit. Also on the menu is an awesome range of tequila and sotol (a drink often referred to as tequila's crazy younger brother), and a selection of beers from Los Angeles and Mexico, many of which you won't find anywhere else in Hong Kong.
The upbeat and comfortable atmosphere is a perfect place to spend a chilled evening out on the town to a soundtrack of smooth R&B and hip-hop jams. They also do a great happy hour, on offer from 6-8pm every weeknight with buy-one-get-one-free on all house spirits, beers and margaritas.
