In need of a haircut? How about a bowl cut? If that feels a touch too daring, you can always leave it to the professional: Atsuko Okatsuka. The award-winning comedian, actress, and internet royalty is bringing her signature cut and brilliantly offbeat charm back to Hong Kong this November as part of her global run, fittingly titled ‘The Big Bowl Tour’.

When it comes to live comedy, Okatsuka is in a league of her own, effortlessly spinning family drama, childhood stories, and the daily absurdities of the immigrant experience into comedy gold. Her eccentric style of humour has earned her a global following, boosted by acclaimed specials like Father and The Intruder, the latter of which picked up a Gracie Award for Best Comedy Special in 2023.

Okatsuka has also managed to take over almost everyone’s social feeds. You’re likely already familiar with her if you remember the #DropChallenge – a viral trend she kicked off that had everyone slowly dropping to the ground in public to Beyoncé's Partition. Beyond her dance moves, her actual day job does well online, too. Clips of her standup sets regularly rack up millions of views, proving she can work a room just as easily through a phone screen as she does in a packed theatre.

The comedian will take the stage at AsiaWorld-Expo on Sunday, November 22. Tickets are priced at $780, $680, and $580, and are available via Ticketflap. While the artist presale has already come and gone, general public tickets are officially on sale now, so it is best not to dawdle. After all, her look is so well-loved that fans have taken to showing up at her gigs in matching bowl-cut wigs – so if you want a decent view of the stage through a sea of synthetic bobs, you’ll want to secure your spot early.
