A beloved staple of dimly lit dive bars, hot and heavy mosh pits, and alternate scenes around the world, it’s been 60 years since the iconic Dr. Martens 1460 boot was born. To mark the occasion, Dr. Martens collaborated with 12 brands, labels, and designers to create a dynamic lineup of limited-edition docs.

The latest release out of this collection comes by way of LA-based fashion brand Pleasures, whose founder Alex James sought to combine the raw, vigorous, and raucous intensity of punk rock with the forward-thinking, inward, and futuristic energy of the new wave movement through this collaboration. The two subcultures might sound like polar opposites, but with both having counter-cultural roots, James’ vision suddenly makes all the sense in the world. To that end, the Pleasures x Dr. Martens 1460 boot is made of two clashing materials – the classic, smooth leather that most docs are known for, and a glossy, polished variant. The two come together to create a strikingly handsome boot that is a testament to the presence of Dr. Martens amongst countless cultural movements throughout the past 60 years.

The Pleasures x Dr. Martens 1460 boot drops on June 27, and will retail for $1,599 at Dr. Martens stores in Tsim Sha Tsui (LCX) and Causeway Bay (Hysan Place). Ethan Lam
