With autumn peeking through, it’s that time of the year when the city’s fashionistas are looking to make quick wardrobe changes for autumn/winter 2020. But with an outbreak in the air, some of us are not as keen to go shopping in the malls or boutiques that we love – presenting an opportunity for digital platforms such as Singapore brand Style Theory to launch in Hong Kong.

Said to be Southeast Asia’s largest online circular fashion platform, Style Theory aims to become Hong Kong’s newest smart fashion solution with more than 2,000 luxury and authenticated bags from over 25 international brands to rent from. The monthly subscription starts at $899, making it affordable to carry your desired designer every season, be it an Hermès, Celine, Saint Laurent, Gucci or beyond.

The circular fashion platform was founded in 2016 by Singaporeans Raena Lim and Chris Halim, who wanted to change the way the world consumes fashion. Taking out the hefty cost, guilt and potential waste or clutter that buying designer fashion comes with, and replacing it with a sustainable, fully rotational, and infinite digital wardrobe.

Its Hong Kong debut will focus on bag rental, with a fixed subscription fee of $899 per month that allows its members to rent one bag per month for a maximum of three months. All of which will be delivered to your door within 2-3 working days and then picked up again. Individuals that want to try out more bags can opt for extra bag swaps, which can be purchased for an additional $420, while select premium bags may incur further surcharges due to demand.

Purchases for select preloved bags can be made directly through the Style Theory app, allowing Hong Kong fashion enthusiasts to rent what they like and buy what they love. Buying through the app is available to any user, so there’s no need to be a bag rental subscriber first.

The app will use data-driven technology to recommend items based on preference and rental history, so there will always be inspiration for your next bag swap. For those worrying about scuffs and scratches, the brand also offer Style Theory Care which covers damages for an extra $99 per month.
