It’s the beginning of summer, and right on cue, one of the city’s major coastal destinations is here to rescue us from the sweltering heat for the next few months. Go Park Aqua, the sprawling 130,000-sq-ft water sports and outdoor adventure base tucked away in Sai Sha, is unveiling an all-round upgrade just in time for the sunny season.

The biggest news for ocean lovers is the new water sports facilities. Teaming up with Elite Sailing Academy Hong Kong, the centre is introducing beginner-friendly sailing dinghies and catamarans. If you prefer a slower pace, regular rowing experiences are slated to land later in the year. For those who wants to make their exercise more meaningful, you can sign up for a diverse range of eco-discovery adventures, including mangrove kayak eco-explorations, guided tours of the historic Kei Ling Ha breakwater, parent-child beach-cleanup kayak sessions, sunset mindfulness paddles, and island-hopping tours.

Go Park Aqua has also joined forces with Goofy Waves Watersports Club to bring some pretty exciting outdoor experiences to the shore. The headliner here has to be Hong Kong’s first-ever Fiat 500 Carboat Tour. Guests can pilot a marine sports car designed to look like the vintage Italian classic, steering it to a secluded sandbar for a luxury champagne picnic with live musicians.

Back on dry land, the seaside lawn area is being transformed into a space for premium events, featuring an inflatable pool bar, live bands, and luxury glamping setups. Food-wise, the park is offering everything from a local snack truck to artisanal coffee at the pet-friendly Café 131, along with high-end French dining at one-thirtyone for those who want a romantic candlelit dinner by the waves.

If you feel like exploring further, the upgrade also extends down the coastline with a dedicated Sham Chung Excursion. This trail introduces luxury glamping spots, field barbecues areas, and workshops such as stargazing with astronomy instructors, traditional Hakka cha kwo making, and more. Foodies can also jump on a boat for the Yung Shue O Lobster Eco-Raft Tour, which takes you into a sustainable green lobster cultivation base. Aside from feeding the marine life, you can also taste rather unusual delicacies like soft-shell lobster gelato and freshly steamed green lobster.

The whole adventure season officially begins on June 13 with a Summer Warm-Up experience day featuring introductory kayaking and a fluorescent night tour, followed by a sailing pubic experience day later in the month. Everything can be booked directly through the Go Park Sports mobile app, so you can easily sort your weekend escape before you even pack your sunscreen.
