Macau is offering free shuttle bus transfers from Hong Kong International Airport

As special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau have long enjoyed a friendly relationship, especially when it comes to travelling between the two cities, but that’s about to get even easier for international visitors. From now until December 31, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is offering free shuttle bus transfers directly from Hong Kong International Airport to Macau to make the journey seamless!

With this one-way cross-border transfer service via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, international travellers whose final destination is Macau can continue their journey straight from the restricted area of Hong Kong International Airport, meaning there will be no need to clear immigration in Hong Kong first. In order to redeem this offer, international visitors must hold valid foreign travel documents and present a valid boarding pass stub showing a flight to Hong Kong arriving on the same day as your desired bus transfer to Macau. If required, you should also already have a valid visa to Macau.

All you need to do is reserve your spot on the bus in advance on the Macau Hong Kong Airport Bus website, as seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and sign a declaration form before departure. Upon arrival in Hong Kong, do not clear immigration. Instead, locate the SkyPier Terminal Transfer Coach Ticket Counter in the E2 Transfer Area of HKIA to complete the declaration signing. You don’t even have to worry about collecting your checked bags – just present your airline-issued baggage receipt for customs and transfer arrangements at least 60 minutes before your bus departure. After that, you can collect your complimentary one-way bus ticket and depart from SkyPier Terminal. You will then be dropped off at the HZMB Macau Port for immigration and entry into Macau. 

From the HZMB Macau Port, there are taxis, public buses to Ferreira do Amaral Square (101X), Hengqin Frontier Post (102X), and Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros da Taipa (103X), as well as connecting buses to various casinos and hotels.

This shuttle is not a complimentary service for all travellers transiting through Hong Kong though. According to the details of the offer, residents of the Greater China region are not eligible to redeem this offer, as it’s reserved for international visitors with foreign passports only.
