Renowned restaurant Shanghai Min has just debuted its new concept, Shanghai Min 1987, in Central. Exclusive to this location, the restaurant is showcasing a signature steamed original recipe chicken sprinkled with minced ginger fries and garlic ($298).
What's most interesting about this menu item isn't the ingredients, price or taste, but rather this recipe – or, at least, the aquisition of it. The chicken has previously been featured on the CCTV programme A Taste of China - Family Dish and became Shanghai Min 1987's trophy dish after its owners bought the classic Hakka recipe from the originating restaurant for a staggering $2.1 million! Talk about a million dollar baby – or chicken.
