Who doesn't love a Hong Kong winter? The temperate, hospitable weather means that what pass as the cooler months here make it perfect for an outdoor trip. There are plenty of reasons to venture out, but one that we're really excited about is the return of the AIA Great European Carnival. Back for its third year bigger and better than before, Central Harbourfront will be jam packed with rides, carnival games, seasonal markets and live performances, making it a great day for all ages.

Running from December 16 to February 12, the carnival covers all the major holidays of the season. Expect the return of popular rides from all over Europe, as well as new games and traditional favourites with over 1 million toys to be won, including characters from Marvel, Mario Bros., Minions, Sesame Street, Trolls - the latter a world first – and more.

Don't forget to take a selfie at the various selfie stations, either! There are even more at this year's Carnival, with new characters like vikings and pirates joining returning favourites like the 3D trick art and the very popular European photo boards. Chow down on some delicious Asian and European fare by Give Me 5 in the food court, which is right in front of the community stage. This season's entertainment ranges from pantomime to DJs and magicians.

Community is a big focus for AIA and the annual Great European Carnival, and this year's event is no different. The Carnival has teamed up with local charities and schools to provide educational activities throughout the festival - whether it be physics classes under the rides, or sport in the food court. They've also aligned with AIA Vitality, Asia's game changing science-based wellness programme to encourage healthy living through a series of fitness and skill activity showcases during the Carnival.

Prices for this year start at just $35 for entry, with free admission for kids under the age of 3 and people over the age of 65.
