In fact, in 2024 Tim Burton received his star on the Walk of Fame right outside and credited the shop as a childhood inspiration. Inside, you’ll find a large selection of adult and children’s costumes, jewelry, makeup, novelties, hobbies and collectibles.

This tiki-style shack is home to our favorite vintage shop west of the 405, located deep in the heart of Topanga Canyon. Once you get past the pirates guarding the entrance, you’ll be privy to what appears to be the contents of a kooky grandmother’s attic—think: varsity jackets, military uniforms, ’80s graphic tees, Nordic sweaters, antique sleepwear and Halloween costumes year-round. Of course, they’ve also got a more traditional range of vintage gear for men and women, too—much of it under $30—but we recommend leaving no marching band jacket unturned as you explore this offbeat shop.

Address: 154 S Topanga Canyon Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90290

Opening hours: Mon, Fri 11am–6pm; Tue–Thu 11:30am–5:30pm; Sat, Sun 10:30am–6:30pm

  • La Cienega

A West Hollywood icon, this intimate lingerie and costume boutique nestled on La Cienega Boulevard near comedy club Largo has been a go-to destination for over 25 years, serving everyone from celebrities like Madonna and the Kardashians to Playboy Bunnies and Halloween enthusiasts. Staying true to its name, the store offers sultry versions of beloved characters and fantasies, featuring everything from Alice in Wonderland ensembles to playful French maid costumes and much more. Recognizing that not everyone enjoys shopping for intimates in public, the store has a unique (and very affordable) membership requirement to shop. For just $2 a year, it offers what might be the most budget-friendly membership in all of Los Angeles, making it even more accessible than the metered parking outside—though the costumes themselves are quite a bit more expensive than your average Halloween pop-up’s prices.

Address: 402 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048
