Praise the movie gods: Hawthorn's beautiful eight-screen cineplex is turning two, and giving away sweet deals to celebrate.
On Wednesday June 28, Lido – which, in our books, is one of the best cinemas in Melbourne – will be offering $6 tickets on all films all day long. If that wasn't enough, they'll be doing two-for-one soft drinks, choctops and popcorn all day. Same deal goes for beers and house wines with a valid ticket, but just one per customer.
And, because no party is complete without a few bangers, they'll be running karaoke all day, too.
If you've never been to Lido, then it's well worth the trip slightly further east from Richmond. This complex – which has kept the building's historic interior intact – includes a Huxtaburger diner, a Jazz Room which pays homage to '80s New York jazz bars, and eight cinemas playing everything from commercial blockbusters to arthouse films and special screenings of cult classics.
