Sad news: The LuWOW is closing soon

There is truly no bar in Melbourne like The LuWOW. We've enjoyed many a dance in Josh Collins' tiki wonderland, but it looks like as of December, we'll have to get our Zombies, our fake jungle plants and our gogo dancing action elsewhere. Earlier today, the bar put out a confirmation that "The LuWOW will be saying 'Aloha Oe' at Christmas, when the doors will close for good".

So what's to be done before then? Party like we've never partied before, of course! The generous, voodoo-lovin' souls have announced that they will be running free entry for every Friday and Saturday night until the end, packing each night with the usual spree of DJs spinning vintage vinyl, dancers, live music and all those tropical cocktails that have got all of us in trouble on at least one occasion: we're talking authentic Zombies, signature $10 Mai Tais and lots more.

Naturally, the LuWOW will still see a banging program of live music throughout the week, as well as Beydance's Bey Party classes on Thursdays and Fridays. The only ticketed events will be the bigger gigs, including Bombay Royale and Tex Perkins. Visit the website for the full list of shows.

The end is nigh, tiki fans – but it's not all over yet. Get there and get loose before it's too late.
