Few pairings in life are as cherished as comedy and wine – and Comedy in the Vines is back to deliver lashings of both. Australia’s premier festival of laughter and libations returns for three jam-packed days of world-class comedy, music, food and vino.
From Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26, the rolling hills of CherryHill Orchards in the Yarra Valley will set the stage for an Australian exclusive: UK comedy star Michelle De Swarte. The model-turned-comic has gone viral with her Live at the Apollo set and sold-out shows across the UK, and now she’s bringing her razor-sharp wit to us for one night only.
Also on the bill is the world’s original time-travelling dance party, Hot Dub Time Machine. Fresh from Coachella, Tomorrowland and Splendour, this high-voltage extravaganza will turn Friday night into a history-spanning dance-a-thon, soundtracking everything from the 1950s to now.
Across the weekend, expect laughs from big names including Tommy Little, Nazeem Hussain, Peter Helliar, Zoë Coombs Marr, Sammy J, Nath Valvo, Ivan Aristeguieta, Ray O’Leary and more. In a festival first, comedy legend Judith Lucy will join Merrick Watts for a fireside chat, while cabaret provocateur Reuben Kaye takes the stage with a full live band. Trevor Jones will keep the piano bar swinging late into the night.
Wine lovers can head to the Meet Your Maker Bar, where a new winemaker takes over every hour, or lace up for the fan-favourite five-kilometre Wine Run (with riesling pit stops included). Add in an oyster-and-riesling shot bar, DJ sets and more, and you’ve got a weekend that’s sure to be as decadent as it will be debauched.
