Why should the grown-ups have all the Fringe fun? The Kids Club is where it's at these school holidays
Every year, Melbourne Fringe aims to be as inclusive and accessible as possible – and catering to kids and families is no exception. This year, the Fringe launches its very first Kids Club, which will host an incredibly exciting and diverse range of free performances for a week during the school holidays.
The fun begins with Comic Chaos (Tue-Sat 10:30am-2pm. Sep 27-Oct 1) where Melbourne-based performer Bernard Caleo will transform children's ideas and drawings into a giant comic book.
Cabaret performer Yana Alana will host a rainbow kids party, called Rainbow Cactus (12.30pm. Wed Sep 28) and comedian Tessa Waters (who has proved herself a master of performing for children as well as adults) will celebrate bodies of all shapes and sizes with Shake, Shimmy, Shim Sham, Sha BAM! (12.30-1.30pm. Thu Sep 29). Music-loving parents will jump on the chance to check out Starting School (12.30pm. Free. Fri Sep 30), where much-loved Finishing School DJ Andrew McClelland will give little ones a real music education.
And that's not even the full program. Check out the line-up at the Melbourne Fringe website. Happy holidays!
