Since they formed back in 2011, Holy Holy has been known and adored for their guitar-driven indie rock sound, with elements of folk mixed in for good measure. The pair met as teenagers while volunteering in Thailand and the rest, as they say, is history. Four successful studio albums, plenty of spots in Triple J’s Hottest 100 and two ARIA nominations later, the Aussie duo have decided to take things in a distinctly different direction.
Singer Timothy Carroll and guitarist Oscar Dawson (who also produces) have ditched their well-known indie sounds and expanded into dancefloor anthems with their latest album Cellophane, which was released in September 2023. Longtime listeners rocking up to the Cellophane Tour might find it all a bit of a shock to the system, but that’s exactly what the band intends.
So, slip on your dancing shoes and maybe even some earplugs, because Holy Holy is bringing their fresh electro sounds to Forum Melbourne on Friday, April 26. Gumbaynggirr rapper and singer-songwriter Tasman Keith will warm up the crowd as the support act on the night. He featured on the track ‘This Time’ on Cellophane, so we can also likely expect an appearance from Keith during Holy Holy’s set.
