Melbourne rockers the Smith Street Band are throwing a huge party

It’s been a ripper year for the Smith Street Band with new album More Scared of You Than You Are of Me, a stack of Australian performances, international tours and the birth of their own label, Pool House Records. To celebrate they’re throwing a Pool House Party at the party palace of the moment, Coburg Velodrome.

While the event won’t actually feature any pools, it will have frontman Wil Wagner and co playing live alongside a big line-up of artists still to be announced. And we mean big: this is a two-stage type of affair, with food trucks and rides thrown in for good measure.

Performing at the Coburg Velodrome (which is also hosting a New Year’s Day party with a tonne of local musos) is a far cry from where the Smith Street Band first started. From their early days playing at the Old Bar and the Birmingham Hotel, Wagner, Cowburn, Hartney, Fitzgerald et al have played their way into the hearts of Aussies with their no bullshit style of pub rock blended with folky acoustic melodies and lyrics that make every inner city 20-something say “it me”.

Stay young and make your way to Pool House Party on Saturday March 17. Tickets go on sale 9am Thursday November 30.
