There is something very special about 48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar. The Elsternwick restaurant (which also has a branch in South Yarra) was named as making the best pizza in Australia at the World Pizza Championships in Parma, Italy, in 2019. The pizzeria is named for the amount of time the natural pizza dough takes to rise, and as you might expect, they take every element of pizza preparation very seriously here.

If you're lucky to live within 5km of the restaurant, you can pick up a pizza or bowl of gnocchi every night of the week, but if not, never fear. You can recreate 48h's famous pizza and gnocchi at home, with everything you need for a brilliant Italian night delivered straight to your home. The restaurant is running classes via Zoom, and you can get everything you need delivered to your house as part of the deal.

For the gnocchi class, you'll get flour, potatoes, and tomato-and-basil sauce delivered to your home, and then you sign onto the class to get a step-by-step demonstration on how to make soft, pillowy gnocchi for your lunch.

The pizza-making class comes with flour, olive oil, yeast, seasonal vegetables and pizza sauce, and a chef will teach you how to make 48h's famous, award-winning pizza in the online class.

Rather let someone else do the cooking? Here are restaurants and bars in Melbourne offering takeaway and delivery
