Animal lovers, take note: there’s a new reason to make tracks for Kyabram this summer. The much-loved Kyabram Fauna Park has launched a shiny new Splash Park – and it’s not your average swimming pool. Shaped like a broad-shelled turtle and packed with water features designed to keep kids (and grown-ups) grinning all afternoon, the 580-square-metre attraction celebrates local wildlife and Yorta Yorta culture, and it’s a super fun way to cool off as the temps heat up.
The water park-style attraction is part of a major upgrade backed by the Victorian Government, that’s also seen two kilometres of pathways improved – making it easier than ever for visitors with prams or mobility needs to explore the grounds. Alongside the new water play area, guests can meet a few fresh faces, with upgraded enclosures welcoming a quoll, wombat and meerkat to the family. Each habitat has been designed to boost animal welfare and create better up-close encounters for visitors.
And that’s not the only good animal-related news coming from Kyabram Fauna Park. Thanks to a $2.8 million investment from the government, the park will soon welcome a purpose-built wildlife hospital. The facility will help treat and rehabilitate native wildlife across northern Victoria, cementing the park’s role as a conservation hub.
Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos said the upgrades will give families “another reason to visit regional Victoria for a fun day out”. Zoos Victoria CEO Dr Jenny Gray called the new additions “meaningful, accessible experiences with wildlife”.
With the Labor Government’s Kids Go Free program offering free admission for children under 16 on weekends, public holidays and school holidays, there’s never been a better time to plan a visit.
Kyabram Fauna Park is open daily, you can book tickets over here.
