In some of the most exciting food-related news of the year, Shannon Martinez (founder of cult vegan icons Smith & Daughters and Smith & Deli) has just announced a new venue that will combine her two current eateries.

Launching at 107 Cambridge Street in Collingwood in early November, the brand-new venue will be one of the biggest vegan hubs in the world, with a dining space, large production kitchen, specialty grocery store, a deli providore and an elevated restaurant housed under the one roof. Cambridge Street will feature everything everyone knows and loves of Smith & Daughters and Smith & Deli, but with reimagined designs and features.

For the first time ever, Smith & Deli will have its own dedicated dining area that can seat up to 30 people at a time and will open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Think affordable eats on the go or the perfect spot for a casual lunch date.

Smith & Deli's cafeteria-style serving station will offer premium deli plate options with hot mains, fresh salads, sides and sweets on offer, plus a soda machine by Strange Love Soda and booze on tapA dedicated grocery section will also stock ready-made meals, pastries (yes, that includes the doughnuts) as well as fresh produce, vegan cheeses and meats.

“I want this to become a one-stop-shop for residents," says Martinez. "This is going to be an extension of your living room. If you live in an apartment you can run downstairs to pick up a cheeky wine, grab a  quick bite or fresh produce to add to your meals at home. We want to provide new affordable meals, especially during this time."

The restaurant, Smith & Daughters, will be getting a Vivienne Westwood-inspired makeover. It will be set in an 'elegant goth'-style setting with 80 seats and an open kitchen – all in a disused fire station.

The one-stop-shop is set to launch in November at 107 Cambridge St, Collingwood, but watch this space for further developments.
