Time Out says

When in doubt, order the steak. It’s one of lifes simple rules worth adhering to. And from early August, Melburnians can do just that when The Meat & Wine Co opens its new flagship restaurant on Collins Street.

This 220-seat venue serves up everything the steakhouse is known for: signature cuts, flame-grilled cooking, an extensive wine list and eye-catching interiors. And at this site, the restaurant will debut an ‘African Sky design concept, complete with draped ceilings, mood lighting that shifts throughout the day and a warm colour palette inspired by the African savannah. How’s that for dinner and a show?

The Meat & Wine Co has been part of Australia’s steak scene since 2000, and the Collins Street opening marks its 14th restaurant. Owned by Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, the brand blends quality local produce with African-inspired hospitality and heritage.

“Collins Street will become our first safari design-inspired Melbourne location that values quality, design, atmosphere and service in equal measure. [It’s] a location that naturally supports both corporate and celebratory dining,” said Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group CEO, Ravi Singh.

Carnivores will find plenty to like, with a menu centred on grass-fed, grain-fed and Wagyu steaks, alongside the signature butter-aged steak program, currently infused with shiraz grapes from Yalumba. There are also plenty of reasons for non-steak devotees to book a table, including peri-peri king prawns, yellowfin tuna sashimi, kangaroo skewers and truffle mac n cheese. And whatever you do, save room for dessert – the molten chocolate fondant is a showstopper.

Whether youre mixing business with pleasure, celebrating a milestone or simply craving a succulent rib-eye, The Meat & Wine Co on Collins Street looks set to be a prime contender on Melbournes steak scene. Find out more here.
