Time Out says

Two Fitzroy restaurants on the opposite ends of the carnivore spectrum are coming together for a menu takeover. For one day only on Sunday December 10 the plant-based Smith & Daughters will take the reins at the chicken-based Belle’s Hot Chicken. Leading Belle’s into uncharted vegan territory will be Smith & Daughters’ chef Shannon Martinez who will recreate all the tasty southern flavours Belle's are known for, sans the meat.

For vegan lovers of soul food, this menu takeover is a dream come true. How will they recreate their classic southern chicken and waffles without the chicken? Will there still be five levels of spice, and will vegan ‘really f**ckin hot’ be just as spicy without the meat? Turn up to find out. Quenching the animal-free thirsts on the day will be James Erskine from Jauma Wine. The event is unticketed, and as usual Belle’s will not be taking reservations.
