Time Out says

South Melbourne Market is turning a 150 with a massive street party

South Melbourne Market is turning the grand old age of 150 and to celebrate the massive milestone, the market is hosting huge barbecue street party on Saturday May 6 from 10am-10pm. On the day, there will be heaps of barbecue and street food from the market's own restaurants and traders as well as food trucks. The day will feature lots of live music, family-friendly activities, a barbecue cook-off and even a giant birthday cake for the grand dame herself.

The market opened in May 1867 and in its 150 years, the market has developed from a village market to a place where locals, office workers, and tourists gather to sample among the best food, produce and goods in Melbourne. Among Time Out's favourites at the market are residents of the Food Hall including Proper and Son, Ba Ba Rolls and Canteen. Elsewhere in the market, Agathe Patisserie and Koy Restaurant attracts lines for their famous patisserie and gozleme respectively.

It's all about the food either, head to Azalea for beautiful blooms, Catch for the amazing fresh seafood, and SO:ME Space for great home decor ideas.
