This $400 cocktail comes with a tiny Chanel-inspired couture jacket

Expensive, frivolous and probably the type of thing that Coco Chanel herself would have adored

If you've got hundreds of dollars burning a hole in your pocket and are keen to spend it on a tipple, then head to Sofitel Melbourne's Atrium bar. The Atrium has launched a new menu that boasts luxurious (and expensive) cocktails inspired by the Coco Chanel exhibition at the NGV.

The star of the menu is the Classique Sensation: a $400 cocktail sure to impress even the most seasoned cocktail connoisseur. The cocktail is made with a base of Richard Hennessy Paradis Cognac, balanced with French aperitifs and Marc de Champagne liqueur and accented with 24K gold leaf. It'll be served to you in a glass adorned in a miniature custom couture cocktail jacket, handmade with material sourced from the same tweed houses used by Chanel today.

If you're keen on a mini couture jacket but can't justify a $400 spend, then try the slightly more affordable Little Black Dress. This $120 cocktail is made with Taittinger Nocturne Champagne base and mixed with Chateau du Tariquet Blanche Armagnac, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, housemade black cocoa syrup, egg white and edible camellia sugar flower.

For a more reasonably priced drink sans jacket, try the $30 La Collection Rose. This cocktail pays homage to Chanel's classic designer flap handbag that came in shades of beige and pink, and the drink is made with Ciroc Vodka, Massenez Liqueur de Chantaignes, toasted Szechuan peppercorn, and an edible ruby chocolate handbag.

To view the full cocktail menu and to make a booking, head to the Sofitel Melbourne website.
