Turkey comes to Queen Victoria Market for a day of food, entertainment and culture
If you've been to the Queen Victoria Market you might be familiar with the lines snaking from The Borek Shop in the deli section. You'll need to weave your way to the front to get the delicious $3 savoury pastries (the hands down favourite at the Time Out Melbourne office is the spicy lamb) but trust us, it's worth it.
At the Turkish Pazar event on March 23, The Borek Shop will be accompanied by a bevy of food vendors selling all your favourite Turkish eats from baklava, gozleme to kebab lunch packs. Finish off your meal with some apple tea or strong sweet coffee in the Turkish tea garden. The Mehteran – an Ottoman style marching band – will be marching by the market and visitors can take in the live performances of Turkish folklore and music. Browse the arts and crafts vendors and maybe even score an ornately decorated traditional Turkish carpet while you're at it.
