Don't let the latest snowstorm fool you: It's officially spring. To mark the occasion, you're going to want to make your way to Coney Island this weekend (even if it is a bit chillier than usual).

Deno's Wonder Wheel Park will kick off its 2018 season on Sunday, Mar 25 and celebrate its beloved ferris wheel's 98th birthday. If you love taking in the scenes of this Brooklyn nabe, get to the attraction ASAP, as the first 98 visitors will get a free ride in honor of this milestone, Brooklyn Paper reports. A happy birthday, indeed!

If you're number 99 in line, don't sweat it. You'll be glad to hear that the amusement park is also celebrating its upcoming season by giving back. Three hundred children from the Salt and Sea Mission, a local charity that works in food pantries and soup kitchens, will be able to enjoy all rides for free on opening day.

Likewise, another famous Coney Island destination is also participating in a philanthropic mission. On Saturday, Mar 24, Luna Park will open its gates for 2018, and for the first time, access to all of the rides will only require a small $5 donation that will go to the park's partner charity, The Mayor's Fund to Advance NYC. Visitors will receive a wristband that entitles them access to the rides.

Not only will families have a great time, but they'll be able to make a difference in the process. Sounds like a win-win situation to us! If you're looking for more fun in this Brooklyn neighborhood, check out the best Coney Island activities for families. Happy exploring!
