Beloved locomotive Thomas the Tank Engine is chugging into town, so it's time to book a ticket!

Day Out with Thomas: Steam Team Tour most certainly deserves a spot on your list of things to do this spring. On April 20, 27–28, May 4–5, Thomas is making a pit stop at Essex Steam Train & Riverboat to provide a ton of fun for little engineers. If your youngsters light up during STEM after-school programs, or if Thomas & Friends is one of your family's go-to cartoons for kids, then this event is a must.

Here's what to expect

Thomas and his buddies (yep, Percy is among one of the trains in attendance) will offer a day of rides (trains will depart every 45 minutes from 9am–3:45pm), fun activities such as carnival games, face painting, play areas, magic shows, musical performances, a petting zoo and story telling straight from the Island of Sodor. Phew! Where to begin?

Of course, this is a prime opportunity to strike a pose with Thomas, so make sure the kids are ready for a few photo ops too!

Now in its 24th year, the Thomas tour promises to be as fantastic as ever. Plus, if you're looking to turn your visit into a fun spring day trip, we have a few ideas about how to make the most out of your time away from home.

Tickets for the tour are $26.50. For more information about the fantastic celebration of Thomas the Tank Engine, click here. See you in Connecticut. Toot, toot!
