Grab a warm coat, sip on hot chocolate for nourishment and make your way to Prospect Park: The go-to spot for ice skating in NYC opens tomorrow, Nov 20.
LeFrak Center at Lakeside will welcome the season with one of our favorite winter activities for kids, and the whole family will want to celebrate with a loop around the rink. Might we suggest an afternoon skating session? (We won't tell your kids' coach that they're skipping practice.)
As the cold-weather months swoop in, park-goers will be able to enjoy the facility on weekdays for $7.50 and $11 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Skate rentals are $8 all week long.
As we approach the holiday (make sure you've perused our guide to Thanksgiving for kids), note that the rink's hours vary. The next two weeks are as follows, according to the website:

For those who are interested in taking their skills up a notch, check out the skate school's offerings, which cater to all ages and skill levels ($175 for five-week sessions, $20 registration fee). Make sure to also explore the hockey league and curling events.
