The world is a wild place right now, and if you ask us, the pull of nature has never been stronger. If you’re keen to get into the wilderness but not sure how to make it work with kids in tow, we’re here to help. We spoke to the good people at Hipcamp and Alltrails for the best pram-friendly campsite and hike options in NSW, so you and the little ones can escape the city for a hit of nature therapy without worrying about getting the bugaboo stuck on the wrong side of a river.

Wedderburn Hideaway and O’Hares Creek Lookout

If you’re chasing that “we escaped Sydney” feeling without actually driving that far, this Dharawal National Park combo is a winner. Base yourself at Wedderburn Hideaway, then roll the pram along the easy O’Hares Creek Lookout track – a flat, family-friendly stroll through scribbly gum woodland that ends with sweeping views into a rugged sandstone gorge. The bitumen path is wide and well-formed, making it an ideal option for prams and little legs.

Katoomba Christian Convention and Kedumba View

If you’re camping in the Blue Mountains and want the drama without the steep rocky staircases, this pairing delivers. Set up camp at Katoomba Christian Convention (a peaceful bushy base just outside Katoomba), then head out to Kedumba View for one of the Mountains’ most underrated panoramas. The lookout peers across the vast Kedumba Valley – a green, folded wilderness that feels miles away from the tourist bustle. This one’s the sort of outing that proves you don’t need a hardcore bushwalk to get a million-dollar Blue Mountains view.

Mt Terrace and Whitegum Lookout Walk

For a country NSW escape that still works with wheels, camp at Mt Terrace and then wander over to the Whitegum Lookout walking track in Warrumbungle National Park. This short sealed path (about 500 metres return) winds gently through bushland before opening onto a lookout with jaw-dropping views across the Warrumbungle skyline – this one’s quick, easy and gloriously scenic.

Hartley Vale Garlic Farm and Fairfax Heritage Walking Track

This combo is peak slow-weekend energy. Camp out at Hartley Vale Garlic Farm, then head up to Blackheath for the Fairfax Heritage Walking Track – one of the Blue Mountains’ most accessible bushwalks. The bitumen path glides gently through hanging swamps and peppermint forest before revealing dramatic cliff-top lookouts over the Grose Valley. Wildflowers, epic escarpment views and a track that’s flat enough for wheels? That’s a rare Blue Mountains trifecta.

Outback Fish Farm and Sawn Rocks Walking Track

For something a little different, pitch a tent at Outback Fish Farm and make a beeline for Sawn Rocks Walking Track in Mount Kaputar National Park. The short, easy track follows a shady creek before revealing one of NSW’s most unusual natural sights: towering basalt columns that look uncannily like a wall of giant organ pipes. The walk is only about 1.5 kilometres return, making it totally manageable with a pram (with a little assistance on the undulating bits).
