Virgin Australia has just dropped a huge sale with cheap flights from Sydney to Byron, Bali and beyond

If you've been waiting for a sign to lock in your next getaway, this might be it. Virgin Australia has just launched one of its biggest sales of the year, dropping more than one million discounted fares across 34 domestic and international destinations – and Sydneysiders can snap up flights from as little as $49 one-way. The massive sale is live now and runs until 11.59pm AEST on Monday, July 27 (unless sold out earlier), with travel available between August 25, 2026 and June 22, 2027. Whether you're planning a quick coastal getaway, a tropical island hols or a full overseas adventure, there’s a heap of cheap flights heading out of (and into) Sydney.

The standout deal for NSW travellers is Sydney to Ballina Byron from just $49 one-way, or you can fly from Sydney to the Gold Coast from $65, the Sunshine Coast from $69 and Cairns from $115. Dreaming of island time? Flights to Hamilton Island start at $139, while Adelaide is on sale from $155 one-way.

If you've got your sights set a little further afield, there are international deals too. Return Economy Lite fares from Sydney to Bali (Denpasar) start at $469, while Queenstown is on sale from $535 return and Nadi, Fiji from $599 return.

Fancy making your holiday even easier? Virgin Australia Holidays, powered by Hopper, is also discounting flight-and-accommodation packages. Sydneysiders can book return flights to Cairns plus two nights' accommodation from $430 per person (based on two travellers), while eligible Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn double Status Credits on qualifying holiday packages booked before July 27.

Keen to go luxe? You can upgrade to Economy X extra legroom seating from $12 per flight sector, or try out what it's like to fly Business Class with fares from Sydney to Ballina Byron from $219 one-way, complete with lounge access, priority boarding and onboard dining.
