Food trucks to serve at the Taste of Chicago

For the first time in Taste of Chicago history, food trucks will be allowed to participate in the event. But, as we previously reported, they won't be a part of the regular fest. Instead, the more than a dozen trucks have been approved to serve food near the Petrillo Music Shell lawn during the concert portions of the fest. They'll start service an hour before the scheduled nightly concerts. The trucks will be on a rotating schedule, with up to seven trucks serving food each night. And hold on to your food tickets, because the trucks will accept them just like booths at the main fest.

This year’s Taste will feature performances by Robin Thicke, fun. and more. Several of the food trucks scheduled to to cater these shows, including Giordano’s Pizza, Cheesies, and Beavers Coffee and Donuts, have cook-on-board licenses, which, until recently, was not allowed in the city of Chicago. This means properly licensed food trucks can prepare food in the truck, rather than selling pre-prepared food. Each truck is expected to serve three to four entrees, as well as two “Taste-sized” smaller portions. The trucks selected to serve at the festival include a wide range of cuisines, from Indian to classic sandwiches, Jamaican to small-batch ice cream.
