The World’s 50 Best Restaurants were announced last night in Melbourne, with Hong Kong’s very own Amber coming in at 24.

The lauded restaurant has held two Michelin stars since 2009 and was ranked third on this year’s Asia’s 50 Best list. Amber is the only Hong Kong restaurant to make the World’s 50 Best list. With seven Asian restaurants making the cut, Gaggan in Bangkok is the highest ranking restaurant in Asia at number seven (and number one overall in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants).

Culinary Director Richard Ekkebus is over the moon that Amber has maintained it’s reputation as a front running restaurant, even in today’s extremely competitive gastronomic scene, saying, “To feature in the top 25 of the the list two years in a row is an amazing result and a testimony to the hard work the team and I have put into keeping Amber at the top of its game, even after 13 years. More than 1000 tastemakers in the industry feel that Amber is still relevant in a highly competitive food scene."

Ekkebus still remains grounded, saying "We are humbled by every single accolade we receive locally, regionally and internationally and every time, it motivates us even more to create memorable experiences for our guests."
