8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana in Central is the only Italian restaurant outside of Italy to have earned a full three Michelin stars. Add that to the fact the restaurant’s bar has just earned itself a spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars and it’s safe to say Otto e Mezzo is something of a local powerhouse.

Lucky Hong Kong then, that chef Bombana is set to soft open Octavium tomorrow (July 1) in the new One Chinachem Central building on Des Voeux Road Central. It’ll be a smaller space than Otto e Mezzo, acting as a kind of testing station for new ideas with a private kitchen vibe. The menu is a simple one, featuring a regular daily dish, and the interior has been designed by Bombana himself. A sneak peek at the menu reveals dishes such as homemade Sardinian gnocchi with traditional pork ragout and castelmagno cheese and grand cru chocolate soufflé with hazelnut gelato.

Other information is scarce at the moment but watch this space for our review of chef Bombana’s latest concept.
