London's best whisky bar is coming to Hong Kong

London’s best whisky bar (and a personal favourite of ours) Black Rock is taking up residence at newly launched Frank’s Library in Foxglove from 22 July to 5 August. The project is a collaboration with The Singleton Single Malt Scotch whisky, presenting The Singleton’s range of Highland and Speyside whiskies, along with a selection of some rare and coveted single malts from Diageo’s library.

Black Rock is the brainchild of industry experts Tom Aske and Tristan Stephenson, created to deliver the ultimate whisky experience, whether you’re a beginner or expert level. Choose to either explore the menu yourself or take a guided whisky tasting, one of which gives the opportunity to taste rare whiskies from closed distilleries.

A key thing we love about Black Rock is how it organises its whiskies in six cabinets based on balance, fragrance, fruit, smoke, spice and sweet, making getting to grips with whisky easier for the newbs as well as aiding new discoveries for the initiated. Pick from the likes of The Singleton, Johnnie Walker King George V, Lagavulin, Glenkinchie, Cragganmore and the rare as hell Brora and Port Ellenlining. For those who don’t fancy a neat dram, there will be three whisky cocktails and three whisky highballs on offer, too.

Replicating Black Rock London's awesome oak table, Hong Kong will have a magnificent seven tonne, 263 year old halved oak tree table that’s home to two rivers of whisky. One river is lined with French Limousin oak and holds an infused cocktail of Bulleit bourbon, Morello cherries and spices, and on the other side, in American oak is the ‘Table Whisky’ - a blend of various malts. The tree table has been created from a sustainably harvested tree in England and will be shipped over with London’s glassware, staff and a menu of whisky-friendly snacks including soda bread with peat butter and haggis balls to create the ultimate Black Rock experience.

Local chefs will also be lending their talents to the menu to add a touch of Hong Kong and raising money for Feeding Hong Kong - $10 of each dish sold will be donated to the charity. Foxglove’s executive chef Kevin Lee, Woo Wai Leong, winner of Masterchef Asia and Alvin Leung of Bo Innovation will each be creating a dish to pair with the whiskies.

Booking is essential. Minimum spend is $500 per person (approximately three drams and one or two light snacks). Following each session guests are welcome to purchase bottles or sip more bevvies at Foxglove.

From 22 July - 5 August. For more details, click here.
