Buckle up, burger lovers. We're finally getting Shake Shack in Hong Kong.

The famous burger-chain, founded in New York, has a cult following in the US, with people lining up for hours to get stuck into one of the company's 'roadside' style burgers, crinkle cut fries, spun-fresh frozen custard and more.

The fast food chain is plans to open not one but 14 locations across Hong Kong and Macau. The first will open next year in 2018 and the chain will steadily expand until 2027, eventually spreading to China. Maxim's Caterers Ltd (who most recently opened The Cheesecake Factory in Hong Kong) are the licensee and, apparently, the menu will be almost identical to those in the US.

How will Shake Shack fare? We predict a lot of hype, a tonne of Instagramming and a long ol' wait in line if you want to sink your teeth into these acclaimed patties. Whether they'll be one of Hong Kong's best burgers or just another fad is yet to be seen. Watch this space.
