To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China – as if President Xi’s visit to our SAR this summer wasn’t honour enough – the MTR Corporation is offering reduced fares today and tomorrow during the National Day holiday long weekend. Adult passengers get to pay child fares, which means about a 50 percent discount, while those with concessionary Octopus cards have all their fares reduced to a flat rate of $1 per journey. Can’t say fairer than that!
We try not to make too big of a fuss about National Day, but if you’re looking to celebrate check out our guide to what’s happening this year or take a look at our guide listing the best things to do in Hong Kong. Sam Sinha
