Finance Secretary Paul Chan announced today, July 3, that those who registered online for the cash handout scheme from June 21 to 30 could expect to receive the money on July 6, two days earlier than the originally stated July 8 date. Since opening registration on June 21, there have been over 5.5 million applications for the cash handout scheme. 4.3 million applicants registered online in conjunction with their bank from June 21 to 30, and as a result, this has eased the stress that was initially expected to be placed on governmental and bank infrastructure.

Applications are still open, and Mr Chan further explained that those who have registered online starting July 1 could expect to be paid within a week. Yu An Su
