It has recently been announced that a citywide promotion campaign will soon start across the city, in which a large number of restaurants will be offering significant discounts on items across their menus. It was announced by Financial Secretary Paul Chan in a press conference that the promotion will see participating restaurants will give 30 percent discounts on selected items or customers' entire bills in July, and 20 percent discounts in August.

Chan expressed hopes that this discount scheme will encourage Hongkongers to spend some of the $10,000 government handout on eating out, and therefore give a much needed boost to the city's embattled restaurant industry. It has been announced that over 1,000 restaurants have signed up to participate in the campaign, that will begin on July 15. The names of the participating restaurants is set to be announced on July 8, meaning us foodies have a lot to look forward to, so stay tuned for updates.
