If there’s one thing Hongkongers will always hold a quiet affection for, it is the humble food court. Reliable, fuss-free, and blissfully air-conditioned, a shopping mall food court is the ultimate solution when nobody can agree on what to eat. So, when cookedDeli closed down in 2024 after operating for 22 years, Harbour City felt somewhat incomplete. Thankfully, that void has now been filled with the arrival of Food Atlas at Gateway Arcade, bringing 12 distinct dining concepts together into one sprawling space.
Among the new arrivals are three Michelin Bib Gourmand-recommended eateries. Local favourite Man Kee Cart Noodle brings its famous slow-simmered beef brisket broth and house-made chilli sauce, while Thai Pai Dong．Ning Kee serves up Phuket street food classics and their signature braised pork trotter rice. Then there’s Fisholic, the creative seafood joint known for turning fish into everything from fries to noodles. Never one to play it safe, they’ve even added a fish soup milk tea to the menu – a creation that may sound like a lost bet but goes down surprisingly well for those who dare to try.
The rest of the dining hall covers plenty of regional ground. You can grab contemporary fusion sushi rolls made with Hokkaido rice at Hafu, sizzle your own meat at Pepper Lunch, or opt for Nanyang coffee and Kaya toast at Toast Box. Wan Chai favourite Rose Food Delivery brings along its renowned roasted yellow chicken, while Tiger Ramen focuses on slow-cooked tonkotsu broth offered in three signature styles. Further options include everything from Clam Lab’s seafood broth bowls and Golden Clay Pot Rice’s crispy rice pots to authentic braised goose from Chao Shan Red and single-person Korean barbecue sets at Dongbaek.
As for the venue itself, the interior features wave-like curves that are meant to mimic the gentle movement of Victoria Harbour, creating a fluid, light-filled layout that opens up the space and naturally guides diners from stall to stall. Next time you’re in Harbour City, be sure to track down Food Atlas at Shop 4102 on Level 4 of Gateway Arcade. Doors are open daily from 11am to 10pm, with Toast Box firing up early from 8am to 10pm.
