Bubble tea enthusiasts looking for their usual fix in Central may have noticed the closure of Mother Pearl’s Lyndhurst Terrace outpost, but the brand has not vanished far. In fact, it has traded up to a two-storey flagship right in the middle of Lan Kwai Fong.

Located on D’Aguilar Street, the new venue is expanding its offerings with grab-and-go bites and sugar-free vegan gelato, and is even stepping into boozy territory with a curated programme of artisanal cocktails and mocktails.

On the ground level, the daytime menu goes beyond standard bubble tea with beverages focused on supporting energy, gut balance, and cognitive clarity. Options include the berry and ginger Bright Pressure ($82), Clever Coca ($86) made with lion’s mane mushroom powder, and the Green Grin ($91), a blend of spinach, avocado, spirulina, and tropical fruits. Meanwhile, the espresso menu offers options like the osmanthus-infused Golden Veil ($49), a fruity Tidal Lychee ($49), and Midnight Dust ($49), a sesame and chocolate mocha drink topped with sea salt vanilla cream.

Heading upstairs, you’ll find the Crafted Bar, an intimate lounge area serving drinks infused with traditional botanicals and functional ingredients. On the menu are impressive cocktails like the Empress Wu ($286), a gin-based creation layered with complex herbal aromatics and an option to add pearl powder ($333), and the Price of Time, a warm siphon-extracted whisky drink priced at $499 for five-year-aged chen pi with Black Label, or $1,999 for 25-year-aged chen pi with Blue Label. For larger groups, there are also shared drinks like the gin and apricot-infused Fountain of Youth ($149 per glass, $727 per tower) and the whisky-based Black Typhoon ($149 per glass, $727 per tower), both with the option to order as non-alcoholic mocktails.

Catering to hungry punters both day and night, Mother Pearl is even rolling out a grab-and-go menu featuring a range of plant-based staples like wraps and mochi cookies, along with a selection of zero-refined sugar gelato with flavours like dark chocolate, vanilla, oolong tea, and jasmine tea, all made with oat milk. Small plates will also be available to accompany the drinks upstairs, including Mama’s nuggets ($91) made with 100-percent real chicken tenderloin; Smoke & Pearls ($191), which pairs a tea-marinated smoked egg with caviar; and Curious Burrata ($282), served over house-made chilli crunch with warm roti.

Mother Pearl is now open at 24 D’Aguilar Street, Central. The ground floor is open from 8am to 10pm daily, while the upper-floor bar opens from 12pm to 12am.
