Calling all dessert fiends: South Korea-based patisserie Abebe Bakery is opening in Hong Kong this September. Since opening its first stall in Jeju’s Dongmun Market in 2018, the bakery has cemented itself as one of Seoul’s largest doughnut specialists, known for its signature cream-filled doughnuts and cream buns.
Expect to delight in fluffy cream doughnuts flavoured with Jeju ingredients, such as the dirty chocolate cream donut, Jeju matcha cream donut, and the Gasiri black sesame cream donut. As for its cream buns, Abebe fills each cream bun – available in flavours such as Geumneung apple cream, Wimi hallabong, and more – with glutinous rice cake for a delightful contrast of textures.
Aside from churning out its signature baked goods, the Korean patisserie also offers all kinds of beverages to pair perfectly with its doughnuts. Whether you are looking for classics like vanilla bean latte, something refreshing like the Cheonhyehyang cold brew, or prefer to opt for speciality drinks like the matcha tangerine cream latte, there is something to please every palate.
The store will be in its soft opening phase starting September 13. However, be sure to swing by on the weekend of September 19 and 20 – Abebe will be giving away doughnuts to customers from 4pm to 6pm while they last!
