10 days to eat your way through the city’s finest

Hong Kong foodies, prepare your stretchiest of pants – the Black Series is back. From July 10 to 19, Black Sheep Restaurants will be slashing prices across its fleet of restaurants for 10 glorious days, offering curated menus and signature dishes that will make you forget about your summer diet plans.
The headline act for this year has to be the Hong Kong debut of Tacos 1986, as the Los Angeles eatery will be flying in for a three-day takeover at Taqueria Super Macho from July 15 to 17. Expect their famous flame-grilled carne asada, pollo asado, and pork al pastor sliced straight off the trompo and into handmade corn tortillas to plate up tacos, vampiros, mulitas, or quesadillas.
Should you prefer something a bit more refined, the Michelin-starred Belon is opening up its chef’s counter for $2,088 per person. Guests will get a front-row seat to watch chef Mina Güçlüer and her team assemble a 10-course anniversary menu charting the restaurant’s greatest hits, including dishes like a foie gras tartlet with sauternes, green asparagus with caviar and citrus anglaise, and a 14-day aged duck apicius. The menu also includes three glasses of wine or zero-proof pairings selected by a sommelier.
A few new faces are also joining the Black Series roster for the first time, each bringing a signature burger-and-booze combo. You can grab a JP Burger with a cornichon martini ($388) at Le Bar at Jean-Pierre, a grass-fed Black Angus beef burger with a glass of Malbec ($268) at The Polo Club, or head to La Vache! at Exchange Square for its Burger Maison with a pint ($228).
For those after a weekend feast, Falcone is doing a special breakfast ($168) at its Peak location, while Chôm Chôm is hosting a Hanoi brunch ($288) with unlimited Vietnamese rolls. Over at Prince and the Peacock, a 12-dish Nawabi brunch ($498) is on offer, featuring a majestic spread inspired by the opulent flavours of Nawabi cuisine. And since no true Hong Kong weekend is complete without a yum cha session, Ho Lee Fook is bringing back its Good Fortune Club ($788) afternoon with bottomless dim sum, Cantonese classics, and a bottle of Champagne per guest.
The group’s award-winning favourites are also participating with their own time-limited menus this year. At New Punjab Club, chef Palash Mitra is serving up a range of dishes (from $388), including the signature keema pau, tandoori cobia, and a Black Series-exclusive shinwari karahi (Wagyu oxtail with padron pepper). Meanwhile, Magistracy Dining Room has a menu packed with comforting British fare (from $438) like Pacific Blue prawn cocktail, steak tartare, and slow-roasted beef rib, alongside a Sunday roast ($588) with highlights like crispy crackling pork belly, a double-baked Lincolnshire poacher soufflé, and a tableside-flambéed peach melba baked Alaska.
This year, those who book a second reservation will get 10 percent off their pre-payment, while a fourth visit will score you a $500 gift card to use once Black Series wraps up. American Express cardholders who book with a Centurion or Platinum card will also get an extra off-menu dish from the kitchen upon arrival.
Public bookings open on July 3 via the Black Series website. Spaces are first-come, first-served, and all bookings are non-refundable, so alert the group chat and sort out your diaries!
