The Sea by The Old Man announces closure

It was announced yesterday that The Sea by The Old Man will be closing its doors for good, after less than a year in business. The bar opened back in early 2019 to a buzz of anticipation from Hong Kong's cocktail faithful, and with good reason as it was the sequel to The Old Man, which has since been crowned the best bar in Asia.

The three industry stalwarts behind the bar: Agung Prabowo, James Tamang and Roman Ghale, imbued the bar with nautical notes in a way that was true to the name, and the Sheung Wan drinking hole garnered good reviews from those who merrily drank there over the months, despite never gaining the legendary status of its older brother.

All being said, it is indeed a sad day for Hong Kong's bar scene as we see another loved establishment sail off into the sunset. Despite this, we remain grateful that so many stellar bars remain in our fair city.
