One week before the announcement of this year's World’s 50 Best Bars, 50 Best has revealed their extended list which covered 26 new entries, 11 of which are from Asia.

Hong Kong's New York-style dive bar The Pontiac ranked 61st on the list – a leap from last year's 93rd ranking – and Spanish-inspired bar The Wise King made it as a new entry at 83rd. Both bars were ranked earlier this year as one of the eight Hong Kong bars listed for Asia's 50 Best Bars 2020. We're hoping more Hong Kong bars will make it to the coveted World’s 50 list when they reveal this November.

The extended 51-100 list included bars from 29 cities across 23 countries with the US leading the most number of entries with seven bars included in the list and Singapore leading Asia with five bars out of 16 across six countries. With the bar industry taking most of the hit in this difficult year, the list aims to bring the bar community closer together and provide inspiring news to uplift the industry. "Despite relentless challenges this year, these bars have emerged with inspiring resilience, with many advancing in their recovery process," shares Mark Sansom, content editor for The World’s 50 Best Bars. "We hope that this extended list will be a source of inspiration to get people talking about returning to great cocktail bars as soon as they can.”
