Friday

Start your weekend dancing among the dinosaurs during an outdoor finale of First Fridays at the Natural History Museum. In addition to its usual science lectures and DJ sets, the museum is setting up an outdoor stage with performances by Health and Yacht.

Alternatively, roll out a blanket and sip on wine atop Barnsdall Art Park during the kickoff of Friday Night Wine Tastings. Tickets to the fundraiser include pours from Silver Lake Wine, and you can throw in a few extra dollars for a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House.

Head down the hill to the Hollywood Bowl for The Little Mermaid in Concert. Life is de bubbles at this live score of the Disney classic, with singing roles taken over by Sara Bareilles, Rebel Wilson, Tituss Burgess, John Stamos and more.

If you're not in the mood for an animated sing-a-long, check out a concert from Nick Waterhouse instead. See the OC bluesman bring his brand of jazzy, throwback rock to the Teragram Ballroom

Saturday

Take a cathartic look at doomed romance as the Museum of Broken Relationships opens in Hollywood on Saturday. This Croatian gallery is opening the doors to its LA locale with all sorts of devastating relics of former love.

Mend that broken heart with a generous serving of carbs at the Los Angeles Bread Festival. This Grand Central Market fest is filled with unabashed bread guzzling, specialty loaves, workshops, demos and Feel the Churn Butter Aerobics.

Stick around the food hall for one of the first evenings of Grand Central Market's Summer Nights. The Downtown dining destination is staying open until 10pm every evening this summer, and tonight you can catch a free kickoff performance from soulful singer David Ryan Harris.

Take advantage of the market's free shuttle service to head to a pair of nearby events. See a selection of old Disney shorts screened with a live score from the LA Chamber Orchestra during LACO @ the Movies. The program at the Orpheum Theatre includes shorts from the landmark 1930s Silly Symphony series like "The Skeleton Dance" and "Three Little Pigs."

Alternatively, catch an LA Conservancy-hosted screening of Top Gun during the first night of Last Remaining Seats. This month-long movie palace series kicks off with two screenings on Saturday at the Los Angeles Theatre, complete with a Q&A during the evening showing with the 1986 film's producer, Jerry Bruckheimer.

Sunday

Stock up on handmade wares on Sunday morning at Urban Air Market. The Historic Core's latest open-air artisan market features more than 85 sustainable and ethical fashion brands.

Find your new best friend during the second day of the Best Friends NKLA Super Adoption. More than 1,000 previously spayed and neutered dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be at the Autry—all of them looking for homes.

Speaking of animals tugging on your heartstrings, head into Westwood for the Dog Film Festival. There'll be two programs of shorts at the Crest Theatre: a more light-hearted afternoon screening and a more serious, sophisticated early evening showing that may have you misty-eyed by the end.

If you're in the mood for more movies and shorts, swing by the ArcLight Culver City for the opening weekend of the LA Film Fest. Though most of today's screenings and premieres are sold out, you can still show up at the theater and grab a spot in the rush line.

Just down the street at Media Park, fill up for a great cause—ending childhood hunger—at Taste of the Nation Los Angeles. This palatable sampling of more than 40 bites features some of the best chefs in town, including Bruce Kalman, Chris Oh and Nick Roberts.

Ditch your car in Culver City and take the Expo Line to Santa Monica for Coast. Walk or bike your way through the beachfront city during this car-free day of pop-up performances and cultural activities, from arts and crafts at the Camera Obscura to extended farmers' market hours.
